HMA Priorities for 2025 – Hitting the Ground Running
Hard to believe we’re already into February! That Christmas break feels like a distant memory as we dive headfirst into what’s shaping up to be a big year. With a few major projects rolling over from 2024, we’ve got a packed first quarter ahead.
One of the best things about working at HMA is getting to collaborate with incredible organisations and frontline staff who are committed to disrupting patterns of harm and making a real difference in people’s lives.
So, what’s on our plate for the year ahead? Here’s a snapshot of what we’re up to:
Ongoing Projects Keeping Us Busy
- Queensland Corrective Services – Continuing to support the rollout of the HMA-designed Disrupting Domestic, Family, and Sexualised Violence intervention program.
- Corrections Victoria – Helping reshape their Motivational Interviewing pathway training, plus running a Train the Trainer program to upskill their internal training team.
- Muka Whānau Services (formerly Dove Hawkes Bay) – Supporting the onboarding and implementation of a new intervention program for tāne (men) and wāhine (women).
- Beyond Blue Support Service – Delivering motivation-in-training sessions as part of induction for new mental health coaches.
- DFFH – supporting staff with challenging service users with cognitive impairment.
- Northern Territory Corrective Services – Running induction training focused on motivational interviewing and engagement in the domestic, family, and sexualised violence (DFSV) space.
- Motivational Interviewing in Working with Family Violence Presentations Masterclass – Back again due to popular demand!
- Ake App Rollout – We’re thrilled to be at this stage of development, bringing practical support to frontline workers to reinforce intervention work in both face-to-face and online settings.
What’s New for 2025?
Alongside these projects, we’re stepping into some exciting new territory:
- University of Canterbury – Running a postgraduate course on behaviour change and motivational interviewing for the Health Sciences faculty.
- Lives Lived Well – Crest Workers – Supporting frontline staff in working with service users who have an offending background.
- ANZ Plus – Introducing motivational interviewing as a tool for leadership development in the corporate space.
- MINT – Ken has been elected onto the Board of Directors for the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers and is currently sitting in the role of Board Chair
If your organisation is looking to upskill staff in effective intervention strategies within the DFSV space—or you’re thinking about reviewing and updating your intervention programs—we’d love to chat. Get in touch and let’s explore how we can support your team.
Here’s to a big year ahead!
