Daryl acts as a cultural consultant and trainer to HMA on the team. He holds the position of CEO at He Waka Tapu Christchurch, a Maori based social service organisation working in the field of stopping violence work. Daryl is an experienced clinician and has been involved in programme development, facilitating programmes and staff management.
He has acted as a cultural consultant at Kia Marama Sexual Abuse Unit at Rolleston Prison. In addition, he has facilitated stopping violence programmes at Paparua and Rolleston Prisons, and has an intimate knowledge of Corrections clients.
He has been involved in delivering programmes on cultural development for a number of community agencies in Christchurch over the last 15 years.
Daryl has undertaken co-training on the criminogenic programme facilitation training, was involved in the Cultural Supervision Pilot for the Department of Corrections, and more recently has delivered the Cultural Awareness Module for Intervention Services staff.
Daryl has been our key trainer for the one day Bi-Cultural Skills module. Daryl also provides HMA with cultural advice across the project.
