Dr Andrew Frost

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Social Work

Ko Ingarangi te whakapaparanga mai, ko North Yorkshire te whenua tupu.  Engari, ko Ōtautahi, ko Waitaha te kāinga.  Ko Andrew Frost ahau.

Andrew is a supervisor, trainer, educator, and consultant with some 35 years of experience working with individuals, groups, and therapeutic communities. Over this time, he’s practised, taught, researched, and published in social work and a range of human service topics, both in Aotearoa New Zealand and in Australia.

He has provided training and supervision for government organisations (Corrections, Child & Family, Defence), as well as a range of NGOs, including kaupapa Māori agencies. He has occupied subject-matter expert roles across both academic and service provider organisations. He has also held leadership and management roles in therapeutic facilities, tertiary institutes, and research centres.

From a position of cultural humility, Andrew’s work is inspired by a commitment to sound ethical standards, effective policy, and excellence in professional growth and development.  Specialist areas include professional supervision, group practice, family violence, sexual violence, offender rehabilitation, and child protection.  He is the co-author of a 2019 textbook on domestic and family violence for students and practitioners, published by Routledge. Work is currently underway for a revised edition of this publication.
