“The heart of my work is based on the importance of empathy, curiosity and respect in effective helping conversations. I have a particular interest in Motivational Interviewing because it asks us to pay as much attention to how we communicate, rather than just what we communicate about. I love that it has a simplicity that makes it practical in many settings, while also offering a depth that still intrigues me nearly 20 years after first meeting the approach.”
Helen Mentha a clinical psychologist with over 17 years experience in the community and private sectors, and has specialised in working with substance misuse in community and forensic settings, dual diagnosis and the application of Motivational Interviewing to positive behaviour change.
